الصين تايبيه تواصل سيطرتها على مونديال الأثقال

اتسمت المنافسات بالقوة والندية في وزن 57 كغم سيدات، حيث اعتلت يي-تشي جوانغ من الصين تايبيه قمة منصة التتويج، محققةً إنجازاً لافتاً بإحرازها ثلاث ميداليات ذهبية في الخطف والنتر والمجموع، بعدما رفعت 85 كغم في الخطف، و105 كغم في النتر، مسجلةً 190 كغم في المجموع.
وجاءت أسيس دهاندا من بريطانيا العظمى في المركز الثاني، لتتوج بثلاث ميداليات فضية، إثر تسجيلها 82 كغم في الخطف، و99 كغم في النتر، و181 كغم في المجموع، بينما حلت كارليانيس سانتياغو من بورتوريكو في المركز الثالث، ونالت ثلاث ميداليات برونزية، بعد أن حققت 81 كغم في الخطف، و96 كغم في النتر، و177 كغم في المجموع.
وتوّج السيد ماركو زونيتش، عضو اللجنة التنفيذية للاتحاد الدولي للرياضة الجامعية (FISU)، أصحاب المراكز الثلاثة الأولى في منافسات وزن 70 كغم للرجال، حيث اعتلى المولدوفي دان-دورين بيتشا قمة منصة التتويج بعد أن أحرز ثلاث ميداليات ذهبية، بواقع ذهبية الخطف برفع 134 كغم، وذهبية النتر برفع 160 كغم، وذهبية المجموع بإجمالي 294 كغم.
حصد لين باو-تي من الصين تايبيه ثلاث ميداليات فضية، بعدما سجل 126 كغم في الخطف، و156 كغم في النتر، وبلغ مجموع رفعاته 282 كغم، فيما أحرز الكوري إم دوهيون ثلاث ميداليات برونزية، مسجلاً 115 كغم في الخطف، و151 كغم في النتر، و266 كغم في المجموع.
كما توّج أصحاب المراكز الثلاثة الأولى، في وزن 75 كغم للرجال حيث برز الكوري هونغ سونغ هيون بإحرازه ميداليتين ذهبيتين وميدالية برونزية، بعد أن حصد ذهبية النتر برفع 175 كغم، وذهبية المجموع بإجمالي 301 كغم، إلى جانب برونزية الخطف برفع 126 كغم.
وحصد الهنغاري لايوش أويفاري ميدالية ذهبية وأخرى فضية وثالثة برونزية، بعدما توّج بذهبية الخطف برفع 131 كغم، وفضية المجموع بإجمالي 295 كغم، وبرونزية النتر برفع 164 كغم. فيما أحرز البولندي ميخاو كوشيوك ميداليتين فضيتين وميدالية برونزية، بواقع فضية الخطف برفع 127 كغم، وفضية النتر برفع 165 كغم، وبرونزية المجموع بإجمالي 292 كغم. وفي منافسات وزن 61 كغم للسيدات، تألقت ربّاعة الصين تايبيه يو-لينغ تشو بإحراز ميداليتين ذهبيتين وميدالية برونزية، بعدما توّجت بذهبية النتر إثر رفعها 108 كغم، وذهبية المجموع بإجمالي 191 كغم، إلى جانب برونزية الخطف بعد أن سجلت 83 كغم.
وحققت البولندية ماريا بولكا حصيلة مميزة، بإحرازها ميدالية ذهبية وميداليتين فضيتين، بعدما انتزعت ذهبية الخطف برفع 85 كغم، وفضية النتر برفع 105 كغم، وفضية المجموع بإجمالي 190 كغم. في المقابل، حصدت الكندية ألكسندرين جينرو ميدالية فضية وميداليتين برونزيتين، بواقع فضية الخطف برفع 85 كغم، وبرونزية النتر برفع 103 كغم، وبرونزية المجموع بإجمالي 188 كغم. قام السيد محمد حسن جلود، رئيس الإتحاد الدولي لرفع الأثقال بتتويج الفائزات في فئة 61 كغم سيدات.

Hong Kong: An inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup will take place later this month featuring 14 teams with matches played in Indonesia and Hong Kong, organisers said on Thursday.

The 11 members of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and three guest sides -- Hong Kong, Pakistan and Bangladesh -- will play in two divisions from September 24.

Eight teams will contest the top-tier Division 1 -- hosts Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Bangladesh and Pakistan.

They will be split into two sections of four with the winners contesting the first FIFA ASEAN Cup final on October 5.

The second-tier Division 2 will be hosted by Hong Kong and also involve Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Timor-Leste, split into two three-team sections with the winners advancing to a final on October 3.

"The FIFA ASEAN Cup was launched to provide national teams with meaningful competitive opportunities," said FIFA president Gianni Infantino.

"The tournament will strengthen football ties across Southeast Asia."

Barcelona: Argentina icon Lionel Messi has agreed to take over Spanish club Eldense, the second division side confirmed on Thursday.

Eldense, based just in-land from Alicante, will become the former Barcelona attacker's second venture into Spanish football ownership having bought fourth-tier Cornella in April.

The 39-year-old plays for Inter Miami and retired from international duty after Argentina's loss to Spain in the World Cup final this summer.

"CD Eldense can confirm that Lionel Messi has reached an agreement in principle with the club's current owners to acquire the shares currently held by Grupo TH Soluciones, which would make him the majority shareholder of CD Eldense," they told AFP.

"At this time, the transaction is pending completion of the final legal and contractual procedures, including the due diligence process, as well as the required authorisation from the Spanish Sports Council (CSD).

"For now, the club is unable to provide details on the financial terms of the transaction or set a definitive date for its completion, as the process has not yet been finalised.

"Once the relevant procedures have been completed and the necessary authorizations obtained, CD Eldense will officially report any developments in this regard," the club founded in 1921 added.

The big-serving 23-year-old powered into the first major championship final of his career on Friday after muscling his way past close friend Frances Tiafoe in an all-American semi-final.

The eighth-seeded Shelton was in irresistible form as he stormed to a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, 7-5 victory in front of a raucous home crowd at the Arthur Ashe Stadium.

It was another impressive milestone on Shelton's journey through this year's tournament, which included an epic five-set victory in the quarter-finals over defending champion Carlos Alcaraz.

Shelton, who blasted 20 aces in Friday's semi-final win, said his success at Flushing Meadows this year has been based on his ability to align brain with brawn.

"I think that problem-solving has been the name of the game here," said Shelton, who had never beaten Alcaraz in three previous meetings before his last-eight triumph over the Spanish star.

"It's been a lot of uphill battle, so I think that I'm fully ready for the challenge to problem-solve," Shelton said.

"I feel that I'm a different player. I feel like I have so many more tools. I feel like I know my identity, am comfortable in my own skin, and I know what it takes for me to be playing top-level tennis.

"I'm looking forward to the challenge, being able to problem-solve on Sunday. I know what I'm up against, and I'm also the most confident I've ever been in my game.

"For me, this whole tournament now at this point has been uncharted territory. I'm in positions I've never been in before. I've beaten guys that I have never beaten before. I'm just excited to put it all out on the line."

Shelton is now one win away from becoming the first American man to win a Grand Slam title in 23 years. The last player to lift a major was Andy Roddick at the 2003 US Open.

He is adamant he will not be burdened by the weight of history in Sunday's final.

"I think that I handle these big situations in my career pretty well," Shelton said. "I feel that confidence and belief take over.

"The nerves are always there. It's something that you got to kind of lean into. The nerves are as much there in the first round for me as in the semi-finals, and I'm sure that the finals will be the same.

"It's something you've got to be able to overcome, but for me I'm having fun, you know? This is an enjoyable moment for me and knowing that I can leave it all out there on the court and push myself to the absolute limit is an exciting, exciting thought."
