Team news is imminent. In the meantime, TNT’s Jules Breach is chatting to Kevin Phillips on a windy walk to the stadium. “They love goalscorers here,” chuckles Super Kev as passing fans serenade him.
The Sunderland captain, Granit Xhaka, has fired an incendiary warning to tonight’s visitors:
The stadium will be on fire. And I want to see our players on fire, on and off the ball. I’ve always been a dreamer and, for me, it’s a big, big dream to reach another European final and to get it with this club.

PS5 Linux forerunner Andy Nguyen is dropping the whole project "after pouring my heart and months of my life into it" over frustrations with AI vibe coders in the open-source space.
In March 2026, Nguyen shared a clip of normal GTA 5 gameplay running in a very abnormal environment. "I ported Linux to the PS5 and turned it into a Steam Machine," he declared. Ever since, he and other modders been working to expand, test, and polish a PS5-compatible version of Linux. The end goal was to create a way to convert a PS5 into a Linux PC. Not anymore.
In a new Twitter post, Nguyen says "I am stepping away from the PS5 scene and stopping all my work on PS5 Linux."
The reason is no secret. Nguyen laments that homebrew projects have been invaded by hapless AI users contributing untested, misunderstood creations.
"The scene used to be a group of highly talented researchers, but now it is just a bunch of noobs using LLMs and writing hacks they don't even understand," he says. "Slop kiddies found the only hypervisor bug left, which I had also found a while ago, and decided to report to Sony."
This hypervisor bug, an apparent vulnerability in this spliced operating system, was known and would be addressed, Nguyen suggests. "I asked them to at least wait for GTA 6 to come out so that people would have the opportunity to legally purchase the game and also enjoy Linux," he says, apparently speaking to the slop kiddies. "They agreed to wait, but not a day passed and they decided to waste it instead."
Between the risk of waking the Sony dragon and the exhausting onslaught of AI slop, Nguyen is out.
A similar situation boiled over for PS3 emulator RPCS3 in May, with project leads telling people to "stop submitting AI slop code."
"Learn how to debug, code, and leave behind something useful to humanity when you're gone," RPCS3 leads said in a post.
Blizzard wants Diablo 5 to have "the best campaign ever," and it's "taking what was great" in Diablo 4 even further to do it
It's going to be a few years before we get to play Diablo 5, but the devs at Blizzard have some high aspirations for the upcoming sequel. While they can't reveal anything about the story beyond broad strokes, they can say the mandate was simple: it has to be the best one.
In an interview with the official Xbox podcast, Matt Zitterman, executive producer on Diablo 5, revealed they got word from on high on what approach to take. "Someone on the team, I don't know who, wrote a sticky note and put it in our director's office, and it says, 'Best campaign ever,'" he recalls.
"He looks at that all the time, and it's really become a pillar of how we think about the game," he continues. "That's an example of us taking what was great in Diablo 4, and taking it further."
In Zitterman's eyes, Diablo 4 "set a new standard for storytelling" within the action-RPG stalwart. You have the most elaborate cutscenes thus far, and an incredibly compelling antagonist in Lillith, as well as all the residual "depth and complexity." All of that is being taken into consideration when putting together the latest sequel.
"We looked at all those components that made Diablo 4's campaign really sing and saw that as an opportunity to take it to the next level," he adds. "One of the things players can look forward to in Diablo 5 is taking everything we've learned and built on for Diablo 4 in terms of how we tell an amazing, cinematic story, and really doing it better."
Lofty goals, but distinctly feasible, given the trajectory of the mainline entries thus far. Diablo 5 is already promising to be an intriguing entry, since it's going back to the RNG-heavy worldbuilding of the third game and before. How that all manifests narratively, we'll have to see, but Blizzard's aiming for another benchmark here.
Despite 3 years of no updates, Zack Snyder still wants to make a Rick and Morty movie
If he doesn’t get another shot at The Dark Knight Returns, as he's clearly desperate to, Zack Snyder is still open to the idea of handling something a little different – a Rick and Morty movie.
In his interview with Variety, the director of Justice League and his latest movie, The Last Photograph (which was met with some negative reactions), was asked about the rumored Rick and Morty movie that the show’s co-creator, Dan Harmon, approached him about back in 2023. According to Snyder, that is still very much worth considering. "I do want to make a Rick and Morty movie," he assured. "It would be fun."
Snyder and the reality-hopping duo, Rick and Morty, have a history after the director appeared as himself alongside James Gunn in the episode, 'Ricker Than Fiction.' It's a fun little watch for both him and the now co-creator of DC Studios, who both poke fun at themselves. While there's no doubt that a Snyder-shot Rick and Morty movie would get some attention, though, it’s not the only dream project he has in mind.
"For the longest time, I’ve been trying to make The Fountainhead into a movie or into a TV show because it’s too long. I’ve written it," he explained, referring to the Ayn Rand book from 1943 that he's been battling with for years. There’s also another page-turner from the director's bookshelf that sounds like a perfect fit and lines up nicely with a genre he's dabbled with twice in the past, and is covered in bite marks.
"Right now, I’m reading a comic book called Dead Samurai," explained Snyder. The comic book series, written by John Dolmayan, is set during a zombie apocalypse and follows a disgraced samurai who has to lead a young girl through a ravaged Japan to reach a temple protected by zombies.
"It really is awesome. I read it and thought, ‘This is a no-brainer.’ It has everything," he assures. "You could imagine beautiful, snow-covered feudal Japanese forests with these bleeding zombies coming for this Throne of Blood samurai with arrows in his back. That’s something we’ve been getting our teeth into a little bit."
If it were either this or Rick and Morty on a feature-length adventure, we're sure Snyder would flock to it, pickles in hand. To see what the best Snyder has to offer, check out our ranking of the best Zack Snyder movies.
