Mets Won't Fire Mendoza Amid Poor Start

General Manager David Stearns confirmed the Mets won't fire manager Carlos Mendoza despite the team's 10-21 record to start the season.

The Mets, posting a 7-19 record in April and falling to 10-21 overall, do not plan to make a managerial change, Stearns stated on Friday. 'We know our record is not what we want, and we know we are capable of more. We don't view this as a manager problem,' Stearns told MLB.com.

The announcement comes amid fan and media speculation about Mendoza's job security following a 12-game losing streak. Mendoza is in the final guaranteed year of his three-year deal, with a club option for 2027. This decision puts the focus back on the players, who have largely underperformed expectations this season. likesport.biz
