Robinson criticizes Slot's back five

Paul Robinson criticized Arne Slot's decision to play a back five against PSG as sending the 'wrong signal' to opponents.

Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has criticized Liverpool manager Arne Slot for deploying a back five in the Champions League quarter-final first leg against PSG. This marked only the second time Liverpool used such a formation this season, following their Carabao Cup defeat to Crystal Palace.

PSG dominated the match with 74% possession and 18 shots compared to Liverpool's three. Robinson believes the formation highlighted Liverpool's weaknesses rather than their strengths, particularly against PSG's wide threats. Liverpool also failed to register a shot on target, a first in their Champions League matches since November 2020.
