Astros Diaz to IL with oblique strain

Houston catcher Yainer Diaz has been placed on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain, manager Joe Espada said he'll be out 'for a while' without providing a specific timeline.

Diaz was injured during batting practice Monday. The Astros have selected the contract of catcher César Salazar from Triple-A Sugar Land to serve as backup, with veteran Christian Vázquez stepping in as the starter. piekny-pies.pl

The 27-year-old Diaz is hitting .248 with two home runs and 14 RBIs in 26 games this season. In other roster moves, the Astros recalled right-hander Jason Alexander and outfielder Zach Dezenzo from Sugar Land, reinstated infielder Nick Allen from the IL, optioned right-hander Ryan Weiss to Sugar Land, and designated outfielder Dustin Harris for assignment.
