Yamal Could Play Spain's World Cup Opener

Spain's coach Luis de la Fuente says injured star Lamine Yamal could be ready for the opening World Cup match against Cape Verde on June 15.

Spain's national team coach Luis de la Fuente confirmed on Wednesday that 18-year-old Lamine Yamal could be fit for Spain's opening World Cup match against Cape Verde. The Barcelona star won't play against Iraq on June 6 but his hamstring injury is nearly healed. michezonews.co.za

Yamal, who fears missing the tournament, sustained the injury on April 22 while taking a penalty for Barcelona. De la Fuente noted Yamal might not play the full match against Cape Verde, possibly only getting some minutes or just training to be match-ready for subsequent games.
