EFL Probes Sheffield United Owner

The English Football League is investigating Sheffield United's owner COH Sports over allegations they formed a new parent company to avoid paying £35m owed to previous owner Prince Abdullah.

COH Sports, led by Steven Rosen and Helmy Eltoukhy, agreed a £100m deal to buy Sheffield United from Prince Abdullah in December 2024 and paid a first instalment of approximately £30m shortly after. However, they are alleged to have been late with the second instalment and missed two subsequent payments due this year.

Abdullah's investment vehicle, United World, issued a winding-up petition against COH Sports in the high court this week and has raised concerns with the EFL and the Independent Football Regulator regarding the alleged payment avoidance scheme. sweetbonanza.qpon
