Gausman Set for Cubs Debut vs Royals

Kevin Gausman will make his Chicago Cubs debut Friday night against the Kansas City Royals after being traded from the Toronto Blue Jays.

The 35-year-old right-hander, who has been connected to the Cubs for years, was added to Chicago's active roster before Wednesday's series finale against the Dodgers. Left-hander Antoine Kelly was optioned to Triple-A Iowa to make room for Gausman. betsport.cv

The Cubs, who acquired Gausman along with reliever Ryan Zeferjahn and left-hander Braxton Garrett before Monday's trade deadline, now have a revamped rotation that also includes Clay Holmes. Gausman is 5-10 with a 4.38 ERA in 23 starts this season but brings a solid track record with at least 174 2/3 innings pitched in each of the previous five years.
