Dutch rider Lorena Wiebes secured victory in the first stage of the Tour of Britain with a powerful sprint finish in Cumbria.

27-year-old Lorena Wiebes of Team SD Worx-Protime powered to victory in the opening stage of this year's Tour of Britain. The 158.9km circuit in Cumbria, which started and finished in Cockermouth, concluded with a thrilling sprint finish where Wiebes narrowly defeated her rivals.
